Terms of use

The license

Calibeam is © Wojo Software LLC and runs on macOS and Windows. A license is personal to the person whose email it belongs to and covers that person’s own computers, up to the number of computers it allows: two for Home. Home is for personal, non-commercial use. The demo needs no license or sign-in.

You may not redistribute the app, share your sign-in, resell or transfer a license, or circumvent activation, and you may not reverse engineer the app except where the law allows it regardless of these terms. Misuse of a license can lead to its suspension or revocation. Revoking a license stops new calibrations; it never removes results you already have.

One-time purchase

Calibeam is not on sale during the private beta. Once it is, Home is a one-time purchase with free updates for as long as Calibeam is on sale. If a paid major upgrade ever ships, your version keeps working, recent purchases receive it free, and existing owners get a loyalty discount. A purchased license works offline for up to 90 days at a time and renews whenever the app checks in online.

Refunds

14 days, no questions asked, through the merchant of record on your receipt.

Private beta

If you take part in the private beta, these terms apply together with the following.

• Access. Beta access is by invitation and free of charge. A beta license covers one computer, must first be activated within the period given in your invitation, and runs for the term stated there (normally 30 days from first activation). We may extend, end or revoke it at any time. When it ends the app stops starting new calibrations; your existing results stay viewable and exportable.
• Pre-release software. Beta builds are unfinished. They may contain errors, features may change or be removed, and a later build may not carry over earlier calibration history.
• No warranty. The beta is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. Do not rely on it for paid or client work.
• Feedback. You give us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, adapt and build on any feedback, suggestions or bug reports you send, without obligation to you. You keep any rights you have in what you sent.
• After the beta. A production license for beta testers is at our discretion and is not guaranteed.

Beta builds share anonymous run data and crash reports by default, as described in the privacy policy.

As-is

The software is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. Calibration results depend on your meter, your display, and your room; the app reports what it measured and verified, and makes no promise beyond that. To the extent the law allows, Wojo Software LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and its total liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Open source

Calibeam bundles the ArgyllCMS programs spotread and oeminst as separate programs, licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3. They and the other bundled open-source components keep their own licenses — see notices. The restrictions in these terms, including those on reverse engineering and redistribution, do not apply to those components, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under their licenses. The corresponding source for the ArgyllCMS version in each release is free to download (source code).
